The EPA’s Brownfields Job Training Program addresses the dual challenges of environmental restoration and economic inequality. By focusing on historically underserved communities, the program aims to create a skilled workforce, advance environmental justice, and foster local economic growth.

The Center for Nonprofit Advancement in partnership with Atmos Foundation was selected by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to receive a $500,000 Brownfields Job Training Grant. This funding supports the Center’s fiscal partnership with Atmos Foundation, a nonprofit division of Atmos Solutions, a leading project contractor providing services including construction management, environmental, health and safety services, and Workforce Development. The Center/Atmos Foundation team will recruit, train, and place workers in environmental cleanup and revitalization jobs across Washington, D.C.

  • Hazardous Waste Management (RCRA)
  • Chemical Safety and Awareness
  • Lead, Renovation, Repair & Painting (RRP)

Participants will also receive training in the following areas:

  • Job Readiness Job search, Resume building
  • Financial Education

Am I Eligible?

You may be eligible to participate in the Environmental Job Training program if

  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Age 18 years and older
  • Resident in the Washington DC metro area
  • Valid ID

Is there a cost for the job training program?

  • The program is Free for all participants who qualify.

Participants have the opportunity to access higher-earning careers without accumulating student debt. Participants are responsible for getting themselves to class. Training location is easily reachable by public transportation.
